for those of us with questions about the Hulk's opening number because of it's low screen/print count. Boxofficemojo has predicted upwards of $85mil, despite this (and he did take this print count into account). And, as we have talked about before, when the two most accurate of the prediction sites predict each predict upwards of $80mil, I am feeling pretty good about my over $72.5 wager.

I detect a hint of sarcasm. While it's not nearly as interesting as that wonderful prop on FJtoK (even or odd), I thought it was still worth noting.

Early crowd reports are pretty positive, I sw onee for 1/2 full at 12:30,, and another for 2/3 full and the author added that that's very good for his area. Apparently it's also doing well in Hong Kong and some other Asian markets. This doesn't mean too much, we knew the movie was going to make money, but will it be a huge hit... I think if we lose this one it will be because it only managed 70 million or so...

Don't jinx the shit out of us with crowd reports, Oren. Jesus. And don't worry, it's going to be a bloody good fight.

And as for you JC... I was just being nice. I find that when somone screws up, or makes a bad prediction... he gets attacked... but when someone goes out of their way to give helpful information, he's never thanked. So I was being nice and said thanks.

Sports, yeah, I definitely believe you can jinx the outcome of these games by posting on this message board. No doubt. But as for movies, I'm not sure, when I post a crowd report, does some voodoo hex get released and all of a sudden people feal negative energy eminating from the Hulk theater showtimes in the newspaper? Or does the entire theater go up in flames so they can't see the movie. I'm not sure. It's not like someone missing free throws because you've disturbed our collective consciousness with negative thinking.

So far I think you could campare these reports to those of Bruce Almighty, so I'd say that 70 million is probably a given here. And it's got more prints than Bruce, right? So I figure it should do 75 at the very least. O.K. that's flawed logic since Bruce did 67, but I'm going to predict today's number. 26 million.

"Saw the 3:45 show at the United Artists Union Square. Place was packed and probably sold out in a 500+ theatre (this is the normal place where I see openers...saw LRDR2, Spider-Man, SIGNS, Daredevil, etc...all in this theatre). HULK was playing in four theatres including the two biggest ones. The audience was made up of a good mix of ages, a lot of young kids, mostly males. As I left, I noticed that at least seven other shows were sold out including four more in the two big theatres (it was playing in both of the 500 seaters). Long line outside the theatre and the place was pretty mobbed...but not as crazy as Spider-Man."

I'll bump my prediction to 28 million.

they keep on riollin' in. Unless this movie is completely front-loaded for today, which it isn't, I'd say we can start counting our money now.

"I just drove by one of the bigger theaters by work and the line was about as long as a football field, around the building. I checked and lots of sold -- nm"

What are you going to buy with your winnings, Gil? I'm going to get the Dungeons and Dragons collector's edition box set.

hahah. I know what you mean wtf, I'm just ****in with you guys. But I'm really liking this bet so far. Hopefully it will remain strong throughout the weekend and the big crowd will make up for the apparent lack of screens. You know, x2 had a LOT of screens, I'd guess that that movie had a lot of empty seats throughout the country it's opener and still made 85 million. I also think it's good karma to think positive. So far it sounds like the big city theaters are drawing X2 like crowds, while maybe the more rural areas aren't going to be as huge, is my guess. But that's a shot in the dark. Bring in the lower screen count into the mix, when some people might be turned away because of sellouts, but might return on Sunday when it's less crowded, and you're looking at what, at least 80 million? I hope so, I'd like to win the 5 day to 100 bet as well, but that one doesn't look so hot anymore, of course.

One negative note here. The film's running time is affecting the number of times it plays in each theater. Around my neighborhood it's only playing on 1 screen (2 theaters) and is only running 5 times, compared to 6 for most other movies.

Here is something to go by...

I big biker guy at my work who knows shit about movies when I ask him questions is taking his 7 year old to see the HULK on Saturday. He never goes to movies. I say this movie does well, just on that. Plus, all the little kids around my house have HULK punching gloves.
